In an oblique message to China, India on November 14 expressed concern over “actions and incidents” that “erode” trust in the South China Sea. 4. Gupkar Alliance to meet again today to finalise seat-sharing for DDC polls The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration members failed to finalise their eat-sharing arrangement for the District Development Council polls yet again on Saturday despite holding a marathon meeting, the third one in two days, on the issue. The alliance partners will meet again on Sunday to chalk out the future course of action 5. Delhi’s air quality turns ‘severe’ Delhi’s air quality turned “severe” on Saturday with stubble burning accounting for 32% of Delhi’s PM2.5 pollution and firecracker emissions making the situation even worse. 6. Soumitra Chatterjee’s condition very critical and grim The condition of legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee is “very critical and grim”, one of the doctors attending to him said. The Dada Saheb Phalke awardee is on life support and not responding. 7. ASEAN, China, other partners set world’s biggest trade pact China and 14 other countries have agreed to set up the world’s largest trading bloc, encompassing nearly a third of all economic activity, in a deal many in Asia are hoping will help hasten a recovery from the shocks of the pandemic. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP, is to be signed virtually on Sunday on the sidelines of the annual summit of the 10-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations. 8. Rockets from Ethiopia's Tigray region hit Eritrea capital: diplomats Rockets from Ethiopia's northern Tigray region hit the capital of neighbouring Eritrea, diplomats say, the latest indication that Ethiopia's internal conflict is spreading beyond its borders. The attacks exacerbated concerns that a conflict Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has vowed would be quick and contained could instead snowball and destabilise the broader Horn of Africa region. 9. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 88,13,889 at the time of publishing this newsletter.
