From early on in the pandemic, it was clear that the economic, financial and emotional costs would be high. As we near what Hilton CHRO Matthew Schuyler calls the "second wave – of employee duress," it is likely those costs will continue to rise.
In this week's CNBC @ Work Spotlight event, Schuyler joined Jon Fortt for a conversation, along with Levi Strauss CFO Harmit Singh, where they shared their game plan to adapt to whatever lies ahead including a "hybrid arrangement" for working on-site for more dynamic, in-person connectivity; a shift from some of our recent discussions that makes a physical space seem like a very distant reality.
A major theme across the event stage was staying nimble, and more importantly, putting people first. For Hilton, this is everything, from the customer to the employee experience. We also spoke to Margaret Keane and Brian Wenzel, the CEO and CFO of Synchrony — a company named one of the best places to work. Keane and Wenzel said that while they have a workforce-first agenda, meeting their employees needs could be challenging as hyper-productivity dwindles and reality sets in.
Check out some of the full interviews with these leaders below. Plus, we had a game-changing strategy session with poker champion Annie Duke. She revealed some of the strategies from the poker table you can bring to your virtual conference table to stay competitive and win against all odds.
