Balasubrahmanyam's funeral at Tamaraipakkam, Chennai The private funeral will be held at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. T.N. Chief Minister said the legendary singer will be cremated with full state honours. 2. Farmers rail roko stir enters third day  Farmers in Punjab and Haryana on Friday took to the streets in protest against the contentious farm Bills passed by the Parliament recently. In Punjab, where the bandh was near total, the rail roko agitation was extended by three days till September 29. Earlier, a farmers' body had announced rail roko from September 24 to 26. 3. PM to deliver virtual speech at UN General Assembly Sources said Mr. Modi's pre-recorded video statement is expected to be broadcast at the UN General Assembly hall in New York around 6.30 p.m. IST on Saturday and that he is scheduled as the first speaker in the forenoon. 4. Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan slated to record statements at NCB office The NCB has asked Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash to appear before it again on Saturday when it would also be recording Padukone's statement. Prakash was questioned for about seven hours on Friday. 5. Congress no-confidence motion against Yediyurappa government in Karnataka  A notice by Opposition Congress expressing no-confidence in the Yediyurappa-led government was admitted by Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri on Thursday. The discussion is likely to be taken up on Saturday. 6. Navies of India, Japan to hold 3-day mega military exercise from Saturday The exercise is taking place in the backdrop of growing concerns over China's military muscle flexing in the Indian Ocean Region as well as in the Indo-Pacific. 7. Modi, Rajapaksa to review broad framework of Indo-Lanka ties on Saturday: MEA At a virtual media briefing, MEA Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said the virtual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Sri Lankan counterpart on Saturday is expected to further deepen the collaborative partnership between the two countries on key issues of mutual interest. 8. Oxford vaccine's trial to start at Mumbai's KEM Hospital The government-run KEM Hospital on Saturday will administer, as part of human trial, Oxford University's Covishield vaccine for coronavirus to three persons, the hospital said. 9. Trump plans to announce Supreme Court nomination on Saturday  U.S. President Donald Trump will announce his Supreme Court nominee on Saturday (early hours of Sunday in India). Multiple news reports said on Friday he plans to nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the nine-member Bench of the U.S. Supreme Court to fill up the vacancy following the death of Judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg. 10. IPL 2020 | Karthik captaincy in focus as KKR face Sunrisers Skipper Dinesh Karthik's tactical nous will once again be put to test when Kolkata Knight Riders take on a depleted Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second IPL fixture on Saturday.
