The 2020 election is underway as North Carolina mails ballots
EDITOR'S NOTE
Hello,
This is CNBC.com politics reporter Jacob Pramuk, in for politics editor Mike Calia.
It's finally here.
Voting in the 2020 election gets underway Friday as swing state North Carolina mails ballots to voters. Americans will likely send an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots between now and Nov. 3 as the coronavirus pandemic changes the way we vote.
The outbreak has also created more opportunities than ever to spread misinformation about voting. North Carolina's board of elections had to remind residents that it is illegal to vote twice after President Donald Trump urged them to do so.
As voting begins, CNBC's Tucker Higgins and Nate Rattner took a look at when states around the country start casting ballots.
