1) Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments
The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 19,63,201 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The toll from the disease stands at 40,742. Indian on Wednesday recorded its highest number of recoveries according to the Health Ministry.
2) Rajasthan High Court issues notice to Speaker on BSP MLAs issue
The Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the state assembly speaker on a set of appeals filed by BJP MLA Madan Dilawar and BSP national secretary Satish Mishra on the issue of merger of six BSP MLAs with the Congress. The matter will now be heard again on Thursday.
3) Sri Lanka general election: Rajapaksa clan expected to win
The polls closed at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and the ballot boxes were transported to counting centers. The counting would take place only on Thursday — a departure from the practice of counting the ballot from 8 PM on the election night. The results would be announced by Thursday evening, Chairman of the National Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said.

4) RBI may go for status quo; announce other measures to boost growth
The six-member Monetary Policy Committee, headed by the RBI Governor, is scheduled to announce its decision today. This is the 24th meeting of the MPC.
5) Reduction in rainfall expected in Mumbai on Thursday: IMD
There was some decrease in the cloud mass around Mumbai, the IMD said. On Wednesday, the Colaba observatory in south Mumbai recorded 293 mm rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.

6) Kerala monsoon toll rises to 31
A red alert for extreme heavy rainfall (over 20 cm) has been issued for Kozhikode and Wayanad on Thursday and orange (6 cm to 20 cm) for various other districts in the State.
7) Shiromani Akali Dal to seek dismissal of Amarinder Singh government over hooch tragedy SAD leaders have decided to meet Punjab Governor V.P. Singh Badnore on Thursday to demand the dismissal of the Congress government.
8) Coronavirus | Nepal introduces odd-even number vehicle movement
The Nepal government has decided to introduce the odd-even number vehicle movement in Kathmandu and other urban areas from Thursday following a spike in the number of coronavirus cases in the country in recent days.
9) French President Emmanuel Macron to visit Lebanon on Thursday
As stunned Lebanese rescuers counted the dead and combed rubble for signs of life a day after a huge explosion shattered swathes of Beirut, nations near and far pledged on Wednesday that the country, already trapped in a deep economic crisis, would not be left alone.

Biden's exchange with CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett was part of an interview conducted with the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. It was scheduled to air in full on Thursday.
