Two workers injured as portion of under-construction elevated corridor collapses in Gurugram A portion of an under-construction elevated corridor on National Highway-248A in Gurugram, locally known as Sohna Road, collapsed late on August 22. Two workers sustained serious injuries. The police said a span between two pillars collapsed at around 9.30 p.m. 3. Families evacuated in Polavaram village as heavy rain weakens bund in A.P. The Necklace Bund, constructed to protect the low-lying Polavaram and Patha Polavaram villages was weakened due to heavy flood in the Godavari river, owing to heavy rain over the past week. Instructions were given to evacuate the 1,000 families staying in the villages. 4. Farmers to observe bandh in Jodhpur's Osian on Sunday Farmers in Jodhpur's Osian subdivision will observe a bandh on Sunday against the discontinuation of power subsidy and to press for their demand of a special package to offset the losses caused by the locust attack. They are demanding that the relief be transferred to their accounts and the power distribution firm stop vigilance checks, representatives of the Bharatiya Kisan Mahasangh said. 5. Bihar polls | BJP State executive committee meeting ends on Sunday BJP president J.P. Nadda will give his valedictory speech on Sunday. 6. Pompeo, Kushner likely to visit West Asia as U.S. presses Arab-Israeli peace The Trump administration will send two top officials to West Asia this week in a bid to capitalize on momentum from the historic agreement between Israeli and the United Arab Emirates to establish diplomatic relations. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to depart on Sunday for Israel, Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Sudan, according to the diplomats, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the itinerary has not yet been finalised or publicly announced. 7. Protests intensify in Belarus Authorities in Belarus have blocked more than 50 news media websites reporting on how the country has been shaken by two weeks of protests demanding that authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko resign after 26 years in power. 8. Canada's conservatives vote wholly by mail for a new leader Canada's opposition Conservative Party is holding an entirely mail-in ballot election for a new leader to carry it into the next general election.
