What happens next for coronavirus relief?
EDITOR'S NOTE
Hello,
Senate Republican leaders unveiled their coronavirus relief measure Monday. The plan includes an extension of enhanced unemployment benefits, although at a lower rate than the extra $600 weekly payment under the previous law. The GOP measure also includes another round of $1,200 stimulus checks for individuals.
But the GOP and Democrats, who control the House, are still far from an agreement, even as key benefits from the prior relief bill expire. Democratic leaders don't think the proposed unemployment extension goes far enough. They have also criticized a provision that would enable people to deduct the full cost of business meals from their taxes.
Negotiations, nonetheless, are under way. They are likely to drag into next week, at least. CNBC's Jacob Pramuk breaks down what's next.
