1) Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments
The number of coronavirus cases in India stands at 3,80,930 with the death toll at 12,605.
2) All-party meeting on India-China standoff
This is the first time since the eruption of border tensions in April that the PM has called for an all-party meeting to discuss the conflict. Notably, the Aam Aadmi Party has not been invited for the meeting as only political parties with more than 5 MP have been called.
3) Tamil Nadu intensive lockdown begins
While all of India is in the process of opening up, Tamil Nadu has become the only state to announce a strict 12-day lockdown, based on the suggestions of an expert medical committee.
4) All soldiers involved in Galwan clashes accounted for, says Army
Five of 20 soldiers who died in Ladakh laid to rest; The mortal remains of the other soldiers are being taken to their villages and it is expected that their last rites will be performed on Friday with full military honours. 5) Rajya Sabha was Polls in 9 States for 19 seats
Elections to 19 Rajya Sabha seats spread over nine States, including polls in 18 that had been deferred due to the coronavirus pandemic in March, will be held today. BJP's Jyotiraditya Scindia, K.C. Venugopal of Congress among those in fray.
6) Congress stakes claim to form government in Manipur - follow up
The Congress in Manipur has staked claim to form the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government after a special session of the 60-member Assembly for a no-confidence motion against the Ministry led by Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren. Nine MLAs, including three of the Bharatiya Janata Party, had on Wednesday night withdrawn support to Mr Biren and reduced the BJP-led government to a minority. 7) Rahul Gandhi's 50th birthday
Former Congress president will not celebrate his 50th birthday in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the death of 20 Army personnel in a stand-off with China in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh.
8) No agreement in sight as EU leaders meet for big money talks
Friday will be the first time leaders will discuss the Euro 750 billion ($825 billion) coronavirus recovery fund proposed in May by the EU's executive arm to help countries weather the downturn triggered by the deadly virus. The aid plan, a blend of debt mutualization, grants and loans, is linked to another thorny issue which is far from being agreed — the EU's seven-year budget.
