Like a lot of you I'm sure, I've been having good days and bad days. I toggle between feeling utter despair and then guilt because I have a job (for now) and haven't gotten sick (for now). When I read this diary entry from ER doctor Jason Hill who admitted four of his colleagues in one single day, I can't imagine how awful that must feel. We're only just beginning to see the devastating mental toll this pandemic is taking on healthcare workers as well.  But feeling guilty isn't productive either, though as Shannon Keating reports, a lot of people — particularly people who grew up working class and are now part of the fragile middle — grapple with this tension more than others: "Stuck in class limbo, I punish myself for what I do have and constantly regret that I can't do more, for my own family or for other people." Small individual actions, like donating, can help, but structural change is what we really have to advocate for.  For now, I'm trying to find joy in the little things. I'm grateful for masterfully written, immersive books for example (I finally read Circe by Madeline Miller and the hype is justified); and for good TV shows.
