1) Coronavirus | Latest numbers
The number of positive cases reported in India stands at 59,479 with 1,976 fatalities. The government on Friday said the recovery rate in India had hit 29.36 percent.
2) Coronavirus | First Air India repatriation flight to take off from U.K. with 250 Indians
The flight marks the first of seven Air India routes organised by the Indian government from London’s Heathrow Airport to six Indian cities over the next week — Mumbai (Saturday and Tuesday), Bengaluru (Sunday), Hyderabad (Monday), Ahmedabad (Wednesday), Chennai (Thursday) and New Delhi (Friday) — in the first phase of the U.K.-India segment of the Operation Vande Bharat.
3) Coronavirus | First Shramik train from Goa leaves for Madhya Pradesh
The train will reach Gwalior today morning.
4)Coronavirus | Puducherry government mulls COVID-19 tax on liquor
Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said a decision on the issue would be taken at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Saturday.
5) Coronavirus | Karnataka allows pubs, bars to also sell liquor from today
The government, however, warned pubs, clubs, bar and restaurants that their licences would be cancelled in case they were caught serving liquor or beer on their premises to the customers.
6) Coronavirus | Sanitation drive using drones, vehicles from today in Ahmedabad
A sanitation campaign involving retrofitted fire tending vehicles, drones and other equipment will start from Saturday in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits, among Gujarat and the country’s most worrisome coronavirus hotpots.
7) Coronavirus | Pakistan to lift lockdown in phases
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday reviewed the impact of the coronavirus on Pakistan’s already fragile economy, as the death toll in the country due the pandemic neared 600 with over 26,000 infections.
8) Operation set to begin to plug leakage at Vizag's LG Polymers
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Avanti Srinivas said the operation to plug the emissions of Styrene would begin soon. “This process is likely to be completed by Friday evening or maximum by Saturday morning,” the Minister told reporters.
9) Naxal injured in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh
The Naxal was later arrested and will be produced in a local court on Saturday, police said.
10) Punjab ex-DGP files anticipatory bail plea in 29-year-old abduction case
A court in Mohali has issued a notice to Punjab Police, asking them to submit the complete records in the abduction case, and listed the matter for next hearing on Saturday.
