And as promised, here are 10 uplifting stories to help end your week on a higher note. 1. Murals are popping up all over the world to thank health-care workers. From Melbourne to Nairobi, artists are using their creativity to thank workers for their hard work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
2. An animal rights group in Nepal is feeding street animals at risk of starving due to the Covid-19 lockdown. These dogs, monkeys, cows and other street animals would normally survive on restaurant leftovers. 3. This teenager is flying supplies to rural hospitals during the pandemic. 16-year-old TJ Kim is using his pilot training to deliver donated medical supplies to hospitals in his Operation SOS— Supplies Over Skies. 4. Nepal's lockdown led to improved air quality and better views. Locals say the Himalayas are more splendorous than ever as the lack of cars on the road has reduced air pollution.
5. The war veteran who raised millions for medics celebrated his 100th birthday. Tom Moore, who raised £30 million ($37 million) for the NHS celebrated with new medals, a military flyover, thousands of cards and an honorary promotion to colonel. 6. The mayor of Kauai launched #StayHomeKauai to keep residents entertained. The series shares small projects and crafts that residents can do from their homes as they face lockdown during the pandemic.
7. You can visit the Faroe Islands right from your smartphone with remote control tour guides. The guides move through the Danish archipelago's towns and volcanic islands like a video game character. 8. Distilleries are turning stale beer into coronavirus whiskey and hand sanitizer too. Craft brewers in New England are sending stale beer to distilleries to be resurrected as 160-proof spirits. 9. Pizza ovens are hard at work once again in Naples as Italy began easing up on lockdown rules. Unlike other pizzerias, those in Naples were closed out of fears of creating another Covid-19 hotspot.
10. This prosthetic allows amputees to move, touch and even feel. The advanced prosthetic is connected to the bone, muscle and nerves, letting the individual control movement with their minds.
