4) Private buses to run in Odisha from today Earlier, the private bus owners were not ready to operate intrastate buses after the government had given them a permission on May 24 as they felt that they would have to pay taxes for the month of May.
5) Kolkata Metro to start trial run of trains from Thursday for maintenance The Kolkata Metro Railway will start trial runs of trains for maintenance of its rolling stock, signalling systems and other facilities from Thursday to keep them ready as and when services are allowed to be restarted, an official said on Wednesday.
6) Delhi farmer buys plane tickets to send 10 workers to Bihar Their flight to the Bihar capital Patna is at 6 a.m. on Thursday and the men, who planned to go home in April, can't believe they are going to their villages in Samastipur — not walking or cycling thousands of kilometres, or scrambling for a seat on a bus or train, but on a plane.
7) Locust menace: Chhattisgarh farmers, agri department on alert Agriculture authorities and farmers in the State's Rajnandgaon district, which shares border with Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, have been asked to be extra cautious as huge swarms of locusts may reach there by Thursday. Locusts have reached Amravati (Maharashtra) and Mandla (Madhya Pradesh) from Rajasthan.  Winged menace: The locusts are immature and have crossed the India-Pakistan border soon after their birth.
8) Heatwave likely to recede from tomorrow: IMD The temperatures north and central India have soared over 47°C at a few places since the past four-five days.

9) Row over naming Bengaluru city's flyover after Veer Savarkar
The flyover is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Thursday, which happens to be Savarkar's birthday.
