Last year, Moms 4 Housing, a group of Bay Area activists and mothers, started a campaign to fight gentrification and institutional poverty in the city of Oakland, California. According to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University, a record number of 490 women have filed to run for House seats so far. That's higher than the 476 women who did so in 2018. "A record number of women are running for House this year" (Vox)
