1) Coronavirus | Hotspots begin to be sealed; Delhi seals 20, U.P. to seal hotspots in 15 districts; Seven COVID-19 hotspots identified in Bengal:
The policy of hotspot containment continues to pick up speed all across the country. Delhi government sources said some more areas are likely to be sealed on Thursday and that the measure will remain in force till the situation improves.
2) Coronavirus | Shab-e-Barat Shab-e-Barat, also known as the night of forgiveness, will be observed on April 8-9. Members of the Muslim community usually hold night-long prayers at places of worship and also visit graveyards to seek forgiveness for their departed loved ones. Clerics and leaders have appealed against congregations that night.
3) Coronavirus | Ahmedabad civic body to screen residents of old city After several COVID-19 cases were found in specific pockets of Ahmedabad city, the civic body has decided to screen all the people living in the old city area, also known as the walled city, as part of its mega drive on Thursday, officials said.
4) Coronavirus | Odisha door to door campaign The district administration in Odisha’s Ganjam will launch a door-to-door survey from Thursday to look for coronavirus-like symptoms in about 40 lakh people, as part of measures to contain the pandemic.
5) Coronavirus | 150-bed coronavirus hospital to start functioning in Maharashtra's Jalna on Thursday The hospital will have a 50-bed isolation ward, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said.
6) Coronavirus | Boris Johnson improving and sitting up in bed British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who remains in the intensive care unit at a London hospital with coronavirus infection, is improving and sitting up in bed, UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak said on Wednesday.
7) Coronavirus | EU finance ministers fail to agree on a rescue plan “After 16 hours of discussions, we came close to a deal but we are not there yet. I suspended the Eurogroup and (we will) continue on Thursday,” said Eurogroup chief Mario Centeno.
8) Coronavirus | Sri Lankan announces curfew in six districts would continue indefinitely In 19 districts, the curfew will be lifted at 6 am on Thursday and will be reimposed at 4 pm.
