Here are the latest updates and the big new stories that you can follow today: 1) Coronavirus | India all set to observe Janata Curfew as number of cases crosses 300 The country is also set to observe a Janata Curfew from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday pitched for social distancing, asking people, barring those in essential services, not to get out of their homes. 2) Coronavirus | Assam reports first case, a 4.5-year-old girl While the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions are the hardest hit by the virus, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that young people were also vulnerable. 3) Coronavirus | Special aircraft to bring 100 Indians home from Amsterdam 100 Indian passengers were not allowed to land in Delhi on Saturday due to worries over the coronavirus pandemic. 4) Coronavirus | Air India to send aircraft to bring back Indians stranded in Rome The flight will evacuate all Indians stranded in Rome and return to Delhi on Sunday morning, an official said. 5) Janata curfew | Goa Archbishop cancels Sunday mass No mass with congregation should be celebrated at places of worship on Sunday, the spokesman from Archbishop’s Palace said in a statement. 6) Janata curfew | Kolkata’s ‘Shaheen Bagh’ says sit-in will continue A spokesperson of the organisers, who have been holding the protest on the lines of Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, said on Saturday that they are taking all precautions such as keeping adequate sanitisers, wearing masks, maintaining a distance between one another and avoiding a large gathering in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. 7) Janata curfew | Will protest against NPR, NRC and CAA from balconies, says civil society group On March 22, when people will thank health care providers and emergency responders, many in the national capital will clap, ring bells, and raise slogans from their homes demanding the government to rescind its decision to update the National Population Register (NPR) in view of the new coronavirus pandemic. 8) Coronavirus | New York City now the epicenter of Coronavirus crisis in U.S. as cases cross 5,000 New York State, which has reported over 7,000 cases, has ordered its nearly 20 million residents to stay at home from Sunday evening.
