Coronavirus test results in 2.5 hours

TGIF, QuickTake readers!  Amid the worry and uncertainty about coronavirus across the globe, we wanted to end the week on a lighter note. Here are 10 uplifting stories from the past week.

1. Meet the Italian engineers 3D printing respirators. They are giving them away to hospitals to help cope with the shortage of ventilators.

2. This new test shortens the coronavirus result time to 2.5 hours. Although it won't be available for sale until April, it's already in use in some hospital labs. 
 

3. China is working 24/7 to make ventilators for around the world. With 3 shifts and even R&D staff working the production line, the company's machines have been going non-stop.

4. NASA astronauts offered their support and tips for quarantine. Astronauts used to living in confined spaces say communication and self care are among the most important skills to keep in mind when working from home.

5. Demand is surging in China's RoboPony. The six-wheeled robot delivers groceries, dispenses hand sanitizer and spots bare-faced people, reminding them to wear a mask.

6. NYC shelters are running out of cats and dogs. A surge in applications of as much as 10-fold has occurred in the past two weeks in animal shelters.

7. Ticket sales are surging at drive-in movie theaters. Customers found out-of-the-house entertainment that's compatible with social distancing.

8.  Ugandan pop star releases a PSA song. Bobbi Wine, a musician turned member of parliament, says music can be a powerful weapon in the fight against the coronavirus.

9. These places are offering virtual tours. Visitors can stargaze, check out penguins and browse through some of the art world's greatest masterpieces.

10. Koala's return home after surviving Australia's fires. A Kangaroo Island hospital is finally releasing back into the wild "the next generation" of moms and joeys.
