Following the Aam Aadmi Party’s spectacular victory in the Delhi election results declared on Tuesday, the party MLAs will meet at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at about 11 am today. We’ll have updates on that story all through the day - The government’s outreach programme with the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir continues. A second delegation of foreign envoys will visit Srinagar and meet with local Kashmiri leaders and group to assess the situation post abrogation of special status under Article 370.
- Buoyed by the Delhi election results no doubt, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to participate in a major rally against the Citizenship Act in the Bhringi area of Durgapur town.
- A petition filed by the sister of the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Sara Abdullah Pilot, is scheduled to be heard by a three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice N.V. Ramana. She has approached the court against the government's move to charge him under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
- A Delhi court will hear responses of the four death-row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case on a plea by the victim's parents and the Delhi government seeking issuance of fresh death warrants. Additional Session Judge Dharmender Rana issued notice to all the convicts on Tuesday and said the court will take up the matter today morning.
- A Shaheen Bagh-type protest is being planned in Ludhiana. Activists protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the National Population Register (NPR) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) have decided to hold demonstrations at the Jalandhar Bypass Chowk daily from today.
- After posters were put up at the parliamentary constituency of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, questioning his absence over the recent police crackdown on anti-CAA protesters, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit his stronghold today to meet people affected by police action.
- The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to release the notification for the civil services preliminary examination today. According to the calendar issued by the UPSC, the last date to apply for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 is March 3 (tentatively), while the Civil Services (preliminary) Examination 2020 will be conducted on Sunday, May 31.
- The Puducherry Assembly has been reconvened to meet today to move an anti-CAA resolution. The House is likely to have its session for a day.
- Their batting woes sorted, The Indian women’s cricket team is eyeing a T20 tri-series title in a summit clash against Australia today.
- Southern Railways will be introducing 'Rent-A-Car Facility' at four stations in Kerala from today. The facility, being launched at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Ernakulam South, Ernakulam North and Thrissur is part of the new initiatives for Passenger Benefit and generating Non-Fare Revenue.
