1. Finally under control. For the first time this season, Australia's harmful bushfires in New South Wales have been contained by heavy rains.

3. N. Ireland's symbols of change. Robyn Peoples and Sharni Edwards wed in the region's first gay wedding after it enacted marriage equality.

4. Dino discovery. A 79.5 million-year-old fossil of the oldest-known North American tyrannosaur, aka the "reaper of death," was found in Canada.

5. A blue-collar robo-dog. Spot, made by Boston Dynamics, landed a gig patroling an oil vessel where it'll sniff out gas leaks and generate reports.

6. Unique newborns. The rare weedy sea dragon was bred at a San Diego aquarium, making it one of the world's few to accomplish the feat.

7. Fruitful life. 112-year-old Chitetsu Watanabe of Japan was certified as the world's oldest man and said the secret to longevity is smiling.

10. Valentine's Day upgraded. Swiss chocolatier Barry Callebaut will sell 3D-printed chocolates to offer customers a customized gourmet treat.
