The S&P 500 is coming its first back-to-back drops of 1% or more this year, and the Dow, S&P and Nasdaq have all fallen this past week. The Dow is on track for its largest week of loss since the final week of May, and the S&P 500 could post its biggest weekly decline since the week ending Aug. 2. The Institute for Supply Management is out with its nonmanufacturing index, its measure of the U.S. services economy, at 10 a.m. ET. The retailer reported fiscal second-quarter profits that beat analyst estimates but fell short on revenue and same-store sales. The company added it "has made substantial progress toward identifying a permanent CEO." (CNBC) | The head of a leading House committee said he plans to issue a subpoena tomorrow to the White House for documents related to Ukraine as part of an ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. The planned subpoena comes on the heels of other House committee demands for related documents to Mike Pompeo and Rudy Giuliani. (CNBC)
Trump reportedly involved Vice President Mike Pence in efforts to pressure the Ukranian president to solicit information that he hoped would be damaging to his 2020 rival former Vice President Joe Biden. The Washington Post reported that officials close to Pence said he was unaware of Trump's efforts to press his Ukrainian counterpart. | | | | British Prime Minister Boris Johnson brings his new Brexit plan to Parliament today, a day after he presented it to the European Union and received a guarded response.
