Time to read: Daisy Jones & The Six
👋 Hello readers!👋 As you should already know, our September book club pick is Taylor Jenkins Reid's Daisy Jones & The Six! (Read an excerpt here.) Presented as an oral history, Reid tells the raucous story of what was once one of the greatest (fictional) bands in rock n' roll history. But at the peak of their fame, they decide to disband. What went wrong? So many of you were excited about this pick, which Reese Witherspoon has already snatched up for a TV adaptation. BuzzFeed Book Club member Catherine Castillo recommends reading this one as an audible book. "The cast is amazing!" Happy reading y'all, and don't forget to respond to our first impressions thread in the Facebook group once you're done.
Behind the Book: Taylor Jenkins Reid Taylor Jenkins Reid shares with the BuzzFeed Book Club the origins of Daisy Jones & The Six and she goes even in more depth on this week's AM to DM: "In 2013, one of my favorite bands, The Civil Wars, broke up abruptly with little explanation. For years afterward, I would get the thought in my head to try googling them just one more time in the hopes that either member of the duo, Joy Williams or John Paul White, might have finally gone on the record about why they broke up. But they never did.
