Impeachment is all the rage

The impeachment storm swirling around President Trump isn't going to let up so easily. Recent polls show that Americans are increasingly in favor of an impeachment inquiry into the president's dealings with Ukraine over Joe Biden, a leading contender for the 2020 Democratic nomination.
Trump has ceaselessly tweeted about the investigation. He has taken an especially extreme approach, quoting a pastor warning about a potential "civil war" and questioning whether Adam Schiff, the House Intelligence Committee chairman, should be arrested for treason.
Mitch McConnell's response to the probe is another important development. In an exclusive interview with CNBC on Monday, the Republican Senate majority leader said that he "would have no choice" but to take up proceedings if the Democratic-controlled House voted to impeach the president.
In true McConnell form, however, he added a caveat: "How long you are on it is a different matter."
