WeWork reveals all

Bloomberg Equality

WeWork finally filed its IPO paperwork this week, revealing new details about the coworking space-cum-real estate company. For one, it showed a deep interdependence between founder Adam Neumann and the corporation. For another, it revealed it has an all-male board

The absence of women is startling. While the push for gender balance has motivated larger companies and spread to smaller ones, startups and investors who fund them have yet to catch on. Also worth watching is WeWork's reliance on the growing number of workers who, while technically employed, have nowhere to actually work. What if a recession happens and the me-conomy crashes, taking workspace demand with it? The gig economy isn't just unstable for workers: It puts the companies that service them at risk. —Claire Suddath and Jeff Green

In particular, young, politically motivated women are helping fuel the rise in law school applications, while foreign students are staying away from U.S. business schools.
