Warren Buffett on health and aging, in honor of his 89th birthday
Buffett celebrates another birthday Warren Buffett was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 30, 1930. That means today is his 89th birthday.
When he was born, the life expectancy of a white male in the United States was just 59.7 years, which rolled around for Buffett in 1990, 29 years ago.
Buffett is way ahead of the game, but for years people have worried about his health, particularly because his diet appears to consist mostly of red meat and sugar.
We went to CNBC's Warren Buffett Archive to find three examples of Buffett and Charlie Munger talking about health and aging, in 1998, 2008, and 2017.
Tesla launches car insurance Tesla has begun offering auto insurance in California. It hopes to move into more U.S. states in the "future."
Last April, CEO Elon Musk announced his plans for Tesla Insurance, with an expected launch by the end of May.
At the time, Buffett predicted Tesla would have a hard time. At the Berkshire annual meeting, Buffett said, "The success of the auto companies getting into the insurance business is probably as likely as the success of the insurance companies getting into the auto business." (Video clip here.)
He said he's much more worried about Progressive's competition with Berkshire's GEICO. "It's not an easy business." Forbes reports it is difficult, and maybe impossible, to insure a non-Tesla vehicle through the Tesla Insurance site. It also notes Tesla isn't a full-fledged insurer. Instead it acts as an agent for policies written by a Texas company.
TRON exec: Justin Sun's lunch with Buffett still only "postponed" Justin Sun's charity lunch with Warren Buffett is still "postponed," not canceled, TRON Director of Global Communications Cliff Edwards tells BLOCKTV.
Edwards said they're trying to reassemble the crypto industry leaders who were to accompany Sun to the late-July lunch in San Francisco.
Just days before, the event was postponed when TRON said Sun was suffering from a case of kidney stones.
Around the same time, there were reports the Chinese government had been pressuring Sun and TRON, and Sun issued an apology for "excessive self promotion." BUFFETT AROUND THE INTERNET Some links may require a subscription
