T-Mobile expands iPhone XS and iPhone XR support for eSIM to postpaid plans

Back in December, T-Mobile launched support for eSIM technology for the iPhone XS and iPhone XR, but only for prepaid plans. Today, T-Mobile has announced that it is expanding its support for eSIM to postpaid customers.

IGTV gains creator focused improvements for cropping, video length, and tagging

After opening up IGTV to landscape video back in May, Instagram is rolling out a handful of updates to IGTV today in response to feedback from creators producing longer-form content on the platform. Changes include new minimum and maximum video length requirements, autofill suggestions for tagging, and new cropping options.

Hulu releasing overhauled Live TV Guide for Apple TV, iOS update coming soon

Last year Hulu enhanced its Live TV subscription service with a more tradition guide interface for browsing channels. Today Hulu is giving its Live TV Guide a major update with new features and under-the-hood changes.

The pricier version of Hulu’s video service provides access to TV channels live over the Internet, similar to cable and satellite services.

Apple tapping into massive India market with first online sales as country eases rules for foreign companies

A new report out from Bloomberg today details that Apple is close to opening online sales in India as the country has relaxed its rules for foreign companies and the requirement to source 30% of production locally to open retail stores. This comes as good news for Apple as it has seen iPhone sales fall in the country this year.

Microsoft rolling out Dark Mode support to all Office apps in time for iOS 13

Microsoft announced today that it is starting to roll out Dark Mode support to the Outlook application on iOS. The company has also committed to rolling out Dark Mode to all of the Office applications on iOS ahead of the release of iOS 13 next month, which is the first to include a system-wide Dark Mode.

Apple publishes FAQ page addressing Siri privacy and common concerns

The support document offers more detail on the Siri grading program, as well as other steps Apple is taking to protect user privacy.

Apple says Siri audio grading program will return later this fall, with privacy-focused policy changes

Apple today announced that it will be reinstating the Siri audio program later in the year with some new policy changes. Apple apologized for how it previously handled user data.

The company says it will no longer retain audio recordings by default. Users will have to opt in if they want Apple to use voice samples, and Apple will aim to delete any recordings that are inadvertent activations.

T-Mobile offers non-customers a free mobile hotspot, with 30 days/30GB data

T-Mobile is offering customers of other carriers a free mobile hotspot device, together with a free data plan lasting 30 days or 30GB, whichever comes first.

The hotspot is similar to devices that sell for around $30, and T-Mobile says you can keep it afterwards – though there’s likely a catch to that…

Fitbit unveils Versa 2 with better sleep tracking, plans future Apple Watch support for upcoming subscription fitness service

Fitbit has made its upcoming Versa 2 smartwatch available for pre-order and detailed its latest plan to offer a more impactful experience and compete with Apple Watch with its Fitbit Premium subscription plan. Meanwhile, Fitbit Premium is set to offer personalized health recommendations for diet, exercise, and sleep.

Facebook beefing up election interference measures, but researchers unhappy

Facebook said today that it is beefing up its measures designed to prevent foreign interference in the 2020 presidential election. Election interference by foreign states was found to have played a role in 2016.

A declassified version of a joint intelligence community report revealed that the CIA, FBI, and NSA all agree that Russia interfered in the 2016 US presidential election with fake social media posts and other activities. A number of individuals were subsequently charged with criminal offenses as a result of investigations into this…

Tim Cook receives $115M stock award as AAPL meets performance expectations

Apple CEO Tim Cook has acquired $115 million worth of vested Apple stock this week, according to new filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. As detailed in the filing, 560,000 restricted stock units have vested for Cook after AAPL exceeded performance expectations.
