Arlo has today started rolling out HomeKit support for two of its Arlo Base Stations. These updates enable HomeKit support for the Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2 security cameras, fulfilling a promise made by the company in January.

Guardian VPN privacy app for iOS now open to the public, including lite version

After launching for a limited amount of users back in June, Guardian Firewall + VPN for iOS has now been made available to the public. The popular app features both intelligent firewall and VPN functionality, gives alerts when companies try to track you, and more. If you’d like to test out the app before paying for a subscription, there’s also a free lite version.

Apple Card Preview: onboarding website goes live ahead of Apple Card launch, includes how to set up video

The website for the Apple Card onboarding process has now gone live ahead of the much-anticipated credit card’s public launch. Tim Cook has previously said that the Apple Card rollout will begin in August.

The page says users can setup on any iPhone and iPad with Face ID or Touch ID (apart from iPhone 5s). iPad users can setup the card through the Wallet & Apple Pay settings page.

App users claim they'd pay up to $4/month for popular apps, including FaceTime

Spotify Premium now bundled with AT&T's top unlimited plan as Apple Music competition heats up

Apple TV, Siri, and HomeKit integration lands on Crestron's programmable touch screen remote

Home control system integration with Apple TV and Siri is one of the few features introduced in tvOS 12, and this week Crestron is releasing an update to its programmable touch screen remote to support the new feature.

Apple announced home control system integration last year at WWDC 2018 alongside Dolby Atmos support and new screen savers designed for Apple TV, although adoption of the smart home feature has been rather slow.

Comment: Kuo's under-display Touch ID report is far more speculative than most

A new report today suggests that Apple is bringing back Touch ID to iPhones. Unlike a sketchier report last month, this one says that under-display Touch ID will not replace Face ID, but rather supplement it, with 2021 iPhones able to be unlocked using either method.

The report certainly cannot be dismissed out of hand. While analyst Ming-Chi Kuo doesn’t have a perfect track-record, he has a far better one than most. Deep dives into Apple’s supply-chain means that he often has visibility on upcoming developments…

Kuo: Apple to release iPhone with both Face ID and under-screen Touch ID in 2021

Ming-Chi Kuo today released a report claiming that Apple will bring back Touch ID fingerprint recognition to its iPhones starting in 2021. The analyst said that he believes Apple will release an iPhone with both Face ID and under-display Touch ID fingerprint biometrics.

Kuo says that over the next 18 months, a lot of technical issues will be resolved which will enable Apple to deliver the high-tier experience it strives for in its devices.

Kuo: Apple to absorb added cost of any tariffs, invest in non-Chinese production

Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out today with a new investor note covering Apple’s supply chain and how President Trump’s latest rounds of tariffs might affect things. Kuo says that he believes “the tariff may not impact the prices of Apple’s hardware products” in the United States.
