The tortoise really does always win
EDITOR'S NOTE
Growing up, my grandmother had a sign in her kitchen that I never really liked.
It read: "The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get," and I thought this was silly, because obviously if you're in a rush, you need to move more quickly to get things done. (Also, the bad grammar.)
But my Grandma Rita was wise. She had raised six kids in a tiny house in upstate New York. And gradually over the years I've come to realize that her little sign was right.
Just the other day, I was in a hurry to get to our nearby Dunkin' to grab breakfast in the ten-minute window I had available. Sure enough, I scraped my side-view mirror on the side of our house as I backed out of the driveway. So I can definitely confirm what they say about the amount of technology in our cars now. The thing popped open to reveal more wires than the IT server rooms I worked in high school!
Thankfully, my husband reassembled it and no actual damage was done. But clearly, I lost my ten-minute window.
Anyway, I share all this today because I've been running late all morning, for various reasons. And every time I'm tempted to speed up as a result, I keep telling myself: slow down. In fact, go even slower than usual! And whaddaya know, I haven't missed any appointments or broken anything...yet.
With that caveat in mind, I'll see you at 1 p.m. And we'll have a full rundown of the "eight demands" that are now front and center for the U.S.-China trade talks at the G20. See you then!

P.S. A few years ago, I found an exact copy of my grandma's sign at an antique mall. So now, my kitchen has one of its own:
