A WORD FROM OUR HOSTS ZACH: This week we got to sit down with Tiffany Cabán for a conversation about her historic run for District Attorney of Queens as an openly queer Latinx person. Over the past few years, we have seen the rise of queer folks not only in national politics (cough Pete Buttigieg cough) but also in smaller offices. What's so exciting about this moment is that we no longer have to argue to everyone that we as queer people are everywhere — instead, we can just point to our local offices to make that point. And that's some change I can get behind. ALEX: This week, I sat down with Broadway actor Laura Benanti for a wide-ranging conversation about her latest role in "My Fair Lady" as well as her other work. We talked about how Broadway has fared with sexism, compared with Hollywood. Benanti was forthcoming about an experience she had on the set of a TV when she was brazenly objectified. I was grateful for her openness because we challenge the shame and normalcy of these experiences when we are forthcoming about them. I'm excited for our orange couch to be a place where we can continue having thoughtful conversations about gender inequality across different industries, and ultimately challenge the status quo with our coverage.
