2. Qantas made the world's first zero-garbage flight.
Passengers on the Aussie flight used biodegradable cutlery and packaging as the airline seeks to cut out 100 million plastic items from its flights.

3. Jeff Bezos let slip his big plans for space colonization.
The Amazon CEO/world's wealthiest man unveiled his other company Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander to get the U.S. back to the moon by 2024. 

4. Scientists unearthed ancient treasures from a British crypt. Archaeologists hailed the 1,400-year-old site, found between a pub and an Aldi supermarket, as the "Anglo-Saxon equivalent" of King Tut's tomb.

5. Celebs tried to out-camp each other at the Met Gala. 
Lady Gaga's 4-in-1 ensemble, Billy Porter's bejeweled catsuit, Cardi B's 30,000-feather dress: Fashion's biggest night was loaded with OTT thrills. 

6. Amsterdam threw a sucker punch to air pollution.
The city pledged to ban gas and diesel vehicles by 2030 and replace them with emissions-free alternatives to ease smog and congestion.

7. Bits of Halley's Comet lit up the night sky.
Falling debris from the famously elusive comet set off a bright and colorful meteor shower with the Milky Way as its backdrop.

8. Japan started testing the world's fastest bullet train. 
The futuristic-looking Alfa-X train, with a super long nose stretching 72 feet, has a top speed of 224 mph and is set to go into service in 2030.

9. Britain's electric grid achieved a jolly green milestone
The U.K. went a full week without burning coal for the first time since 1882 and plans to wean itself off of it completely by 2025.

10. A child amputee melted hearts with his dance moves.
He'd just been fitted with a new prosthetic leg. And the boy, a landmine victim in Afghanistan, couldn't stop dancing and flashing a wide smile.
