Bloomberg: Apple A13 production kicks off, destined for iPhone 11 and the new iPhone XR in the fall

Supply chain sources have previously reported that the Apple A13 chip will be built by TSMC on a ‘7nm+’ process. In an article posted today, Bloomberg says that the A13 chip is now in trial production and could ramp up to mass production later in May.

The A13 chip will be used in the next-generation iPhone lineup, the 5.8-inch iPhone 11, 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Max and a successor to the 6.1-inch iPhone XR.

Trump's Chinese tariff increases begin today, with Apple still threatened

Trump made two tweeted threats to increase tariffs on Chinese imports, one of which would have hit Apple products. He has now gone ahead with half of what he promised – and says that work is underway on the half that would affect Apple

Rumor suggests iOS 13 will not support iPhone 6, iPhone SE and iPhone 5s

A rumor from iPhonesoft.fr out today suggests that iOS 13 will cut off several generations of iPhone. With iOS 12, Apple supported every device that could run iOS 11, boosting performance across all models all the way back to iPhone 5s. If today’s report is to believed, it is the end road for a large chunk of active iPhone models.

BMW CarPlay subscription breaks feature during extended ConnectedDrive outage

Many BMW owners have been unable to access CarPlay in their vehicle for the past several days, according to several reports on Reddit. This CarPlay downtime is seemingly related to BMW’s ConnectedDrive service suffering from outage – and further shows the risk associated with locking these features behind paid options and subscriptions.

Functioning Apple-1 and accessories going up for auction this month, could fetch over $600,000

Another Apple-1 is set to hit the auction block later this month. The Apple-1 be available through Christie’s auction house from May 16th through May 23rd, and is expected to fetch as much as $630,000.

Canalys: Apple shipped 14.6M iPhones in North America during Q1, securing 40% marketshare

Analyst company Canalys is out today with a new report looking at the smartphone market in North America during the first quarter of 2019. According to Canalys, smartphone shipments fell 18 percent year-over-year during the quarter, hitting a five-year low of 36.4 million units.
