Rs 150 crore allotted for Bapu's 150th birth anniversary celebrations
The year 2019 will mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced allocation Rs 150 crore for the anniversary celebrations. Gandhian institutions in the city, including Sabarmati Ashram, Kochrab Ashram, Gujarat Vidyapith, Navajivan and the Khadi Udyog Majoor Mahajan are quite upbeat. Last year the union government had sanctioned Rs 25 crore for centenary celebrations of the Sabarmati Ashram.

GIFT IFSC to become global financial hub with unified regulator
The International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at Gujarat International Finance Tec City (GIFT City) in Gandhinagar is set to be positioned as a global financial hub with Budget 2018-19 proposing to establish a unified authority for regulating all financial services.
