Jignesh Meavni misbehaved: Police
Joint commissioner of police, crime branch, J K Bhatt told the media on Sunday that Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani had misbehaved with cops while he was being detained near Saraspur. Bhatt said that the police will send a detailed report to the assembly speaker with evidence such as CCTV footage and news reports. The self-immolation of a Dalit activist, Bhanu Vankar, on the premises of Patan collector’s office earlier in the week had triggered widespread protests across the state. Mevani had called for a bandh in Ahmedabad on Sunday and had urged people to gather around Dr Ambedkar’s statue at Sarangpur Circle.

RTOs propose 'foolproof' GPS meters for 1 lakh autos
City RTOs have proposed installation of ‘foolproof ’ GPS-enabled meters in over one lakh autorickshaws. An auto meter was found rigged in Jogeshwari few days back. The driver, Nitin Narale, who was booked for cheating, has been detained for questioning, police sources said.
