Trump invited by crypto exec to lunch with Buffett
| Crypto leader invites President Trump to his lunch with Buffett Under the terms of the charity auction that cryptocurrency executive Justin Sun won by bidding $4.6 million, he can invite up to seven guests to his July 25 lunch with Warren Buffett.
Sun would like one of them to be President Trump, who appears to share Buffett's skepticism about cryptos.
In a Thursday tweet critical of Facebook's proposed Libra virtual currency, Trump wrote: "I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air."
Sun tweeted in response: Our Washington Bureau contacted the White House for comment. They didn't have anything to say.
Who else is invited? Sun, the creator of the TRON cryptocurrency, says he doesn't expect to completely change Buffett's mind, but he does hope to build a "bridge" between his industry and traditional investors like Buffett. To help, he plans on bringing some crypto leaders.
In a tweet last Friday, Sun said that so far he has invited Litecoin creator Charlie Lee, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (who goes by CZ), and Huobi Global CEO Livio Weng.
He asked his readers to "please report any suspicious parties that claim to be invited to avoid any financial loss." For example, as CryptoNewsZ points out, scammers might "ask for money to raise particular issues."
Sun's TRON rejects accusations from defrauded protesters Police were summoned to the Beijing offices of a TRON partner Monday after angry protesters showed up, accusing TRON and Sun of not doing enough to stop an apparent Ponzi-like scheme that collapsed in late June.
In China, TRON is called "Wave Field." The fraudulent platform went by "Wave Field Super Community" and "claimed associations with the popular platform to draw in thousands of investors."
According to Decrypt, "Victims said that, ever since the scheme's launch, they asked Sun to clarify the relationship, but he did not respond."
In a Medium post, TRON said its officials "expressed their sympathy and understanding for those who had been deceived, however, the company strongly condemns acts of violence that may be perpetrated as a result of events that are not in its direct control."
It also said it has "on multiple occasions warned investors of potential pyramid schemes or illegal activities that attempt to defraud investors under the guise of fast riches using blockchain technology."
Delta kicks off airline earnings with bullish numbers Delta Air Lines, one of the four airlines that account for a combined $10 billion chunk of Berkshire Hathaway's stock holdings, increased its profit forecast for the year and beat earnings expectations when it reported Q2 earnings Thursday morning. CEO Ed Bastian told CNBC that the airline got a "clear" but "marginal" boost because it doesn't have any Boeing 737 Max planes in its fleet.
The three other airlines in Berkshire's portfolio, American, Southwest, and United, have all been forced to ground their 737 Max jets. They'll be releasing earnings later this month. BUFFETT AROUND THE INTERNET Some links may require a subscription
